Personal Profile Testimonials
Dear MSP
I was amazed that I was able to get an answer right off the web site... Flylady has encouraged us to keep a happiness journal and I wanted to tell you that one of my entries was because of you.
I am single mom of 3, student, work full time... yada, yada, yada...anyway, picking up my middle DS Monday from football practice, out of the blue, this wonderful 15yo says "you know mom, you're really pretty". Well adolescence is not easy and unsolicited compliments rare. I was floored. He said, " I almost got in a fight cuz ___ said you looked good, then I realized he was right... I do... not like some of the other moms who try too hard to dress like young girls. I guess I just got used to you wearing old tee-shirts and baggy jeans that I really didn't notice. I'm glad you changed though."
The thing about it is I really didn't change what I wear so much as I now pay closer attention to fit. I am now able to look objectively at myself and not depend on friends or sales girls to walk me through the agony of shopping... in fact, I'm starting to sort of like it. I still wear jeans and tee-shirts, but your suggestions on HOW tee-shirts/informal shirts should fit me are INVALUABLE!!!!
I even started wearing makeup again (that part of my FLY-ing was not quite fluttering). As per your suggestion, I am going to make out a less formal basics list, keeping my suit for those occasions when I do have to look a bit more formal. Also, never being much of an accessories person, I always looked at the "scarf girls" with a bit of envy, however I am starting to accessorize with ethnic pieces, handbags and jewelry from my travels that I never wore before, simply because I didn't feel like it.
Thank you, thank you!!!! You are part of my happiness journal now. My son saying that to me meant more than all the compliments I have rec'd thus far.
Thanks again
Anne
Wow! I can't believe the difference in the clothes in my own closet since receiving my personal profile newsletters. It has been so amazing to go to my own closet and find "new" clothes. I've altered the way that I put outfits together and what a difference it has made! Twice this week I was asked if I had lost weight and that I looked nice! I was wearing the same clothes that have been hanging in my closet but instead of trying to hide behind them I gave Missus Smarty Pants a try and followed her advice (I'm a "B".) I even feel like I've lost 10 pounds just my making some simple changes. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm looking forward to many more newsletters, tips and guides.

Dear MSP, I finally subscribed (treated myself to a subscription for mother's day), and I LOVE it. I used to sit, desperate, in front of my closet, not finding any matching clothes, shoes, hairstyle or anything. I stopped shopping because I was always so disappointed. Thanks a lot to show me I have my own figure and to give ideas for flattering clothes. I actually have a lot of FUN, and I know now which clothes don't fit, can you believe that ? Your website is great. I look forward to your weekly letter.

Pants!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are the first person that I have found that FINALLY gave me good advice regarding pants. I've been hearing forever about how I'm supposed to be looking for the larger sized" low-rise" pants to avoid the "mom jeans". I've been trying to find such a pant that would look good on my Type E body with no success. Well, no wonder! In your Secret of Perfect Style posting, you mentioned that if you have no butt, you need the opposite. FINALLY!!! You have saved me countless hours of needless shopping and depressing myself trying to fit into something that wouldn't even compliment my body type. Thank you so much!

“Wow! I thought I knew everything about fashion. I now realize that my Personal Profile is so much more! It gave me a system and a way of thinking for managing my wardrobe and I have found my own personal style!”
Julie in CA
MSP : You are quite right, we all need to find out what works for us as individuals. Everyone should show there style SYSter.
“After having gotten divorced last year, I decided to get a Personal Profile to pit up my spirits. I’m so glad I did. This was an investment in me and I now have a better job since my image has improved! Thank you for helping women like me!”
Jill in NC
MSP : Bless you for your heart felt message! I have heard from women like you that have renewed themselves and have found one positive change opened the door to many more. Good luck on your continued success!
This was the last straw… I went to national department store and it rhymes with “Needless Markups” and really cute sales associate helped me pick out some very expensive outfits. She made me feel so good because every time I came out of the dressing room she told me how nice I looked. Later in the week, I went to visit my mom. She confided in me that I had purchased the wrong outfit and that the fit was all wrong for my body. I was so upset but took her advice to order my Personal Profile. Needless to say, I am a better person for it and am now in control of my shopping trips.

MSP: Having been in retail for many years, I hear this story again and again about pushy salesgirls “helping” customers with their purchases. Sales girls don’t really have your best interest at heart, but Missus Smarty Pants does! I am glad you are now free from “sales bondage” and now have a plan just for you. Being armed with a system when you shop gives you control and will keep you from ever making costly mistakes again!

Dear Flylady
I was so saddened by the email from the woman who wanted the Flylady cling
to look thin.
She just doesn't know that happiness does not start on the outside-it comes
from within.
I had such a revelation yesterday. I have been having a blast with the
Missus Smarty Pants
(MSP) web site and body profile subscription. Since becoming a Flybaby, I
have totally
cleaned out my closest due to missions and zone work. This has left me with
very few
clothes-but I have always hated shopping because I hate standing in those
changing
room booths, looking in a three way mirror being reminded that I have
dimples in places
that only looks cute on babies. I have also told myself that I have no
taste in clothes and I
don't know how to put together a cute outfit. Well, with the MSP shopping
guide, I went to
Target and started trying on the recommended clothes for my body profile.
The gloom
started to settle in-it started with the negative messages "you are so out
of shape", "those
stretch marks are gross". You know the messages that I am talking about.
But then I thought about what that woman wrote in her email about the Flylady picture implying that you can only be happy if you are thin. You see, I was standing in a changing room making those mean comments to myself while I was trying on size 6 and 8 clothes! I thought to myself that if I started out a size 22 and was trying on size 6 clothes I would be excited!
But I wasn't excited-I was depressed because of the dimples and the sagging.
And that is
when it hit me-the size wasn't the issue. Being able to love myself, no
matter where I am,
is the issue.
I am 40 and I have three kids and two step-kids. I have a full and blessed
life. How could
I allow those horrible self-given messages ruin my time shopping? I left
Target with some
CUTE outfits-down to the earrings and shoes! I came home, put on some of the new
clothes, put on some make up and felt so pretty! My husband is out of town,
and I didn't
go anywhere-but darn if I didn't feel great!
Please continue to preach the gospel of love to us Flybabies-large or small,
American or
Australian, black or white, rich or poor--self-hatred sees no boundaries.
Thanks to you,
Flylady, you have given us the gift of a peaceful home, Leanne and her great
meals, and
now Missus Smarty Pants! (Now, if I could just get up the courage to shop
for a bathing
suit!)
~Really getting the FLYing thing in MN!
Thank You!
MissusSmartyPants,
I just had to write and say "thank you." I received my first shopping newsletter from you today. It was so nice to be able to go shopping online and be confident that what I am getting will look good on me. I normally panic and end up not ordering. This is how I have gotten down to 2 t-shirts, a pair of jeans, and a sloppy skirt in my closet.
While I was at my local mega store today, I looked at purses. I used your advice and tried one similar to the one you recommended. I took it to a full length mirror. Just the little change from my purse to yours made me look 20 pounds smaller. If one little tip makes that much difference, I can't wait for you to take over my wardrobe. ~Annie
You helped me save $50 today
I am so excited about your new site! I am a Flybaby and I have been cleaning out my closets for the past year. I have not really replaced the "flng" clothes because I just have not known what to where. Well, I got my first profile email and read it from top to bottom. Today, while I was out shopping, I saw a cute blouse that cost $50. I almost bought it but then I remembered a boxed blouse does not look good on a B shaped bod, so I put it back! This weekend I am planning on going out and getting a few of the suggested clothes--and I can not wait! Thanks for working with Flylady and having this site!! ~Tory C.
