Never Pay Retail Again
Sounds a little too good to be true? Never pay retail again? Well, have you ever purchased a pretty blouse at the beginning of the season, only to go back a couple of weeks later, to find it deeply discounted and that you paid way too much? Don’t let this happen to you! MissusSmartyPants is here and can help you save tons of money! The only time that you should pay regular retail, is if you find you have a fashion emergency — you know…you suddenly split your pants or spill red punch on your white blouse! Only then should you have to purchase some new clothes!
Having been in retail for so many years, I know all the “tricks” of how and when retailers run sales and when they run Great Sales! There is a difference. First, here is an example of a regular sale: a retailer buys set merchandise that they plan on constantly rotating on and off of sale. This is merchandise where the sale price is actually the price they expect to get for the product-and it is on “sale” almost all the time. You, the average customer are not aware of how this works, and may buy the product when it happens to not be on sale! Then retailer really makes out, or if you do buy when the product is on “sale”--you feel you got a great deal! These “sales” are frequently found in the newspaper and other advertisements.
Then there are “real” sales! These are the “sales” that are mid-to end of the season. This is the time they start clearing out the current season and making room for incoming merchandise that can be sold at regular price to the early bird shoppers. Retail space is expensive and stores must move the merchandise!
Take advantage of these huge savings NOW! They would much rather sell at a deep discount (TO YOU!) than have old inventory sit, or re-sell to a clearance center. Now’s the time to look for bargains on the summer basics!
NOW is the time to shop the end of the season sales! Get ready to clean up with deep discounts while you stock up on clothes for next year—plus there is still plenty of warm weather to enjoy and wear your bargains!
Sort through the sales racks for:
Wear with anythings. Can’t say this enough! Look for classic pieces that you can wear several different ways. Find colors that are pretty next to your face. Or get a great pair of pants or shorts that go with so much you already have in your closet. These must be pieces that will be the foundation of your wardrobe now and again next year!
Ignore the price. At least at first. You don’t really need a twelfth pair of black pants-just because they are on sale! Nor do you need a purple sequined evening bag since you never go out. Look at the item and see if it is something that you do need in your wardrobe. Don’t just buy it because it is on sale!
Gotta haves. Stock up on these! Basic camis, tanks, and stylish tees in melon, lime, mango, and some great neutral colors, too. (Wear these into Fall, layer these under cardigans or blazers) Also shorts, Bermudas and crops that you look fabulous in! Any classic basic is what you want to stock up on now! Pay attention and read the label. Machine wash may be best. Check and see if the garment will need dry cleaning. Select carefully clothes that do—dry cleaning can really add up! It may be easier just to pass on these.
Check it out—then keep going. The uber-trendy shirt is not a real bargain! Super trendy clothes will be so last year--next month! Don’t go there, unless it is $5.00 and you really don’t know what else to do with your money! Instead save your money and spend it on the basics listed above!
Save a ton of money. By buying only what you really need, and what you will wear again next year, you are taking full advantage of retailers needing to move merchandise! Get rock bottom prices on great summer clothes by following the advice of MSP, and start buying only at the end of the season!
