Finally a Closet Full of Clothes

What if you could go into your closet and instantly come out with something that you will look stunning in? It can be just that easy with some advanced planning you can look up-to-date and fabulous everyday! Here are some great tips, so now you can stop suffering closet trauma every time you open your closet doors!

You may have a lot of clothes, but just a hodgepodge of pants and shirts, with no rhyme or reason. With a game plan, and a little bit of time, you can have a closet full of  clothing options at your disposal. Here’s how to get started:

1) Assess your needs-do you need mostly professional dress wear for work? Or mostly casual because you are now a stay at home mom? Make a list of what you need. What percentage is for work? 80%? What percentage is for casual ? 20%? Your wardrobe needs to reflect your lifestyle.

2)Know your body type- flaws you want to hide and assets you want to highlight. Be honest by looking in the mirror.  Are the clothes you have now working for your body type? Find your correct body type at MissusSmartyPants.com

 3) Do a closet purge. If you haven’t worn it in a year, then get rid of it! Is the fit wrong for your body type, too big, too small, color is wrong for you? All are reasons to toss it out! Clear it out and you will feel much better and be ready for a fresh start.

4) Look at what is left in your closet. Now is the time to get an action plan of what you need to complete your wardrobe. Make a list and think basics. The basic neutrals (slimming dark colors are best) are garments that you can build a wardrobe on. Don’t forget basic pieces need to fit right and be of quality so they last.

Now that you have a working list of what you need, try filling in the blanks that will make up multiple outfits. An example would be a tan suede jacket that you could wear with dressy jeans and crisp white blouse, or perhaps you could wear to work with black or chocolate brown slacks as well as your favorite skirt. The key to adding a new piece to your wardrobe is asking if you can wear it in two or more ways. If the answer is yes, then go for it if the fit, cut, and color are also right for you . Use the basic pieces you have and put together new wearable combinations; make notes of certain pieces you should get that would allow more wardrobe choices. Just by shopping in your closet before even going to the store should bring some surprising combinations to life! Make as many outfits as you can, and keep a written log of them (you could also take pictures of the complete outfit). Now you can quickly put together an outfit that is stylish and ready to go in no time flat! Finally, a closet full of wearable clothes!
